With persistent inflation and concerns about a possible recession in the future, an overwhelming majority of Californians believe the US economy is in not so good (43% adults, 40% likely voters) or poor (33% adults, 36% likely voters) shape. About a quarter of adults (3% excellent, 20% good) and likely voters (2% excellent, 23% good) feel positively about the national economy.

Today, majorities across partisan, demographic, and regional groups say they are following news about the gubernatorial election either very or fairly closely. The shares saying they are following the news very closely is highest among residents in Republican districts (39%), Republicans (30%), whites (29%), and adults with incomes of $40,000 to $79,999 (29%). Older likely voters (27%) are slightly more likely than younger likely voters (21%) to say they are following the news closely. Californians are much more pessimistic about the direction of the country than they are about the direction of the state. Solid majorities of adults (62%) and likely voters (71%) say the United States is going in the wrong direction, and majorities have held this view since September 2021. One in three or fewer adults (33%) and likely voters (25%) think the country is going in the right direction.
Helen’s greatest love was her family followed by her love of music. More recently she spent many hours enjoying WDEZ County and the Sunday Polka program. Millie was cared for by the angels at Cedar Creek Manor, Kronenwetter for the last six years of her life. His favorite spot was Lake Gordon, in Gordon, WI. He went there to Tuverson’s Resort at least twice every year, despite the 12 hour trip. On days when no one else on the lake could catch a fish, he could find them. He spent many happy hours fly-fishing or casting his beetle-spins, looking for bluegill and crappie. He could fix almost anything, and largely built his own house in Lacon. On May 20, 1950, he married Betty Lawless at St. John’s Catholic Church in Peoria. He and Betty lived in Pekin, Lacon, Dixon, and Sycamore, Illinois as he earned promotions.
Mary was born on June 14, 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA to Clementine and John McParland. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1952. She married Jim LaRue of Coraopolis, PA on October 30, 1954. They raised four children, Jim , Bob , Nancy and Patty .
He married Theresa Martin, August 29, 1956, at St. Patricks Catholic Church, Halder, WI. She preceded him, July 1, 1995. David is preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Rose. Brothers Tom, Gary, James, Greg and sister Marilyn. She would faithfully meet all of her friends to watch the packer games on T.V. She loved the city of Wausau and enjoyed walking downtown for many years. She then decided to pursue a degree in Education and commuted to the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point to receive her teaching degree.
